Why are you doing this?
I see myself as an artist and my life as the canvas. Adventure is an act of creative expression for me.
Will your adventure support a cause?
Yes, I'm supporting Kilimanjaro Aid Project, an NGO that is building chicken coops to provide both food and a self-sustaining source of income to underfed families in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. I am only seeking donations from corporate sponsors on this adventure. If you are an individual, you can support me by following me on my
Substack blog and
Instagram.
I am a business. Why should I sponsor you and/or your cause?
My blogs have been read thousands of times and videos have been watched hundreds of thousands of times across platforms. The Andes FKT could reach millions of readers and viewers over the course of a year. To reach out, please email
olly.k.cohen@gmail.com.
Why set an FKT?
Deia Schlosberg and Gregg Treinish pioneered a route across the Andes that does not rely on roads in 2008. I hope to evolve their route into a trophy for professional endurance athletes and a culminating journey for thru hikers.
What is your route?
In the past, my routes have largely been improvised, but more planning is needed to establish a repeatable classic. I will determine waypoints before starting that include mountains like Aconcagua and Cotopaxi as well as Natural Wonders like Machu Piichu, the Bolivian Salt Flats, and the Patagonian Ice Cap.
How will you be supported while you run?
I rely heavily on local support for routing, food, and shelter, though technically my run will fall largely under the "solo" and "self-supported" category. Additionally, a small group of close friends and mentors will act as my emergency contacts, coaching, and advice will support me remotely from the US.
How can I follow you?
I will share my journey through my
Substack blog and
Instagram when I can connect to Internet.
